20 Covid deaths in a day, highest in 6 months, active cases top 50,000

For the first time in six months, the daily Covid-19 fatality count in India touched 20 on Thursday, with as many as 14 states reporting at least one death. The day’s case count too climbed to 11,109, up from 10,168 on the previous day, as infections surged across several parts of the country.
