Four years on, 20% women’s quota fully filled in most IITs

While 100 women joined IIT-Bombay in 2017, the number has touched 271 now. In case of IIT Delhi, the corresponding numbers are 90 in 2017 and 246 as per the most recently released data of 2021 admission statistics. While total students admitted at the IITs have increased from 10,988 to 16,296 between 2017 and 2021, the women population has almost tripled: 995 to 2,990.

Alcohol use and high BMI key risk factors in India’s cancer deaths

Globally 44.4% (4.5 million) of all cancer deaths were attributable to risk factors, says the study. The estimates are based on the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk factors Report, 2019. According to the study, nearly half (50.6%) of all cancer deaths in men globally in 2019 (2.8 million) were due to known risk factors, compared with 36.3% all female cancer deaths (1.5 million) attributable to these factors.

Asked for his reaction to Jaishankar’s comments, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin told journalists here that “as a Chinese leader put it, ‘unless China and India are developed, there will be no Asian Century.
