Allahabad high court sets deadline, says Gyanvapi case of national importance

Emphasising that the Gyanvapi-Kashi Vishwanath dispute was a "matter of national importance", the Allahabad HC on Tuesday directed the Archeological Survey of India DG and UP's additional chief secretary (home) to file their personal affidavits in the case within 10 days.

Desi qHPV vaccine against cervical cancer to be launched today

India is all set to launch on Thursday its first indigenously developed quadrivalent Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine for prevention of cervical cancer. It has been developed by the Serum Institute of India in partnership with the Department of Biotechnology. Till now, HPV vaccines needed to prevent cervical cancer have been sourced from foreign manufacturers at a cost of Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,500 per dose.

Record rain turns Bengaluru into water world, city put on alert

As per the IMD report on Tuesday, Bengaluru recorded its highest single-day rainfall in August in 24 hours - 162.1mm - since August 27, 1890. The department has issued a yellow alert in Bengaluru Urban district for Wednesday and Thursday too. Three lakes - Bellandur, Varthur and Nallurahalli - overflowed and around 400 cars parked in basements of apartments around Nallurahalli lake were submerged.
