Odisha has highest dropout rate at secondary school level
Odisha (27.3%) has the highest dropout rate at secondary school level followed by Meghalaya (21.7%), Bihar (20.5%), and Assam (20.3%). While the all India dropout rate at this stage of schooling is 12.6%, states like West Bengal, Punjab, Nagaland, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh have dropout rates of over 15%. The figures were cited in the Rajya Sabha by the ministry of education.

ASI says survey won’t damage Gyanvapi mosque; Allahabad high court order likely on Thursday
The ASI assured the Allahabad HC through an affidavit on Wednesday that no damage would be caused to the structure due to methods used for the survey of the Gyanvapi complex as per the order of the Varanasi district judge. CJ Pritinker Diwaker, hearing a petition by AIM challenging the Varanasi court’s July 21 order for a scientific survey of the mosque premises, deferred the hearing till 3.30pm on Thursday, when it is likely to pronounce judgment, and asked the ASI not to carry out any survey.

Supreme Court to hear pleas on extending RTI to political parties

Manipur horror: Martyr’s house makes hamlet state’s most protected
A village, half of it burnt down, in Manipur’s Kangpokpi is guarded 24x7 by BSF troops, making it one of the most protected places in the state — because of one special house there. The house in Maphou was home to BSF sub-inspector Paotinsat Guite, killed fighting the Pakistan army on the LoC in J&K on December 1, 2020. He was given a Kirti Chakra in 2022 for his bravery in foiling Pakistan's attempt to push in terrorists. Maphou is the last one remaining in the block. All others were razed.

Nearly 13.5 crore people moved out of multi-dimensional poverty between 2015-16 and 2019-21 in India with the fastest reduction seen in UP, followed by Bihar, MP, Odisha and Rajasthan, a report released by government think tank Niti Aayog showed on Monday. The country registered a significant decline of 9.89 percentage points in the number of multi-dimensionally poor from 24.8% in 2015-16 to 14.9% in 2019-2021, according to the report.
