India, Israel seek to take space ties to new heights
India and Israel have discussed avenues to expand space cooperation as Israel’s ambassador Naor Gilon called on Isro chairman S Somanath at the space agency headquarters in Bengaluru on Tuesday to discuss ways to boost space relations. “The ongoing interactions between the space agencies and the avenues for expanding space relations between India and Israel, in view of space reforms announced by the government of India were discussed during the meeting,” an Isro statement said.

UP elections: 60% turnout in UP 4th phase lower than in 2017

First India evacuation flight leaves Ukraine
Students formed the bulk of over 240 Indians who flew back from Kyiv and are expected to reach Delhi around midnight on Tuesday-Wednesday on an Air India Dreamliner special evacuation flight as fears of a Russian invasion of Ukraine escalated. A large number of Indian students study in Ukrainian medical colleges and the embassy in Kyiv on Tuesday advised them “in the interest of their safety” to leave “Ukraine temporarily rather than wait for an official confirmation about online classes from their universities”.

230 kids aged 2-6 become youngest to get Covid jabs in Covovax trial
A group of 230 children aged two to six have become the youngest in the country to get a Covid vaccine after they were given at least one dose during trials of the Covovax jab, manufacturer Serum Institute of India confirmed on Tuesday. The second dose will be given 21 days from now and the trial — across 10 hospital sites in the country (including two in Pune) — will conclude by May end.

At least 20 people were injured on Monday and around 50 vehicles torched during the funeral procession of a Bajrang Dal worker who was murdered on Sunday. The police had to resort to lathicharge and fire teargas shells. Curfew was imposed in Shivamogga — about 270 km from Bengaluru. Harsha, 28, was stabbed by a group of men on Sunday night while he was on his way to have dinner at Bharathi Colony near New Thirthahalli Road here. He died during treatment.

Punjab recorded an extensive dip in voter turnout from 76.8% in 2017 to 63.44% till 5pm on Sunday for the single-phase state assembly polls, while the third round of UP elections saw a marginal drop in polling at 60%, as opposed to 62.21% five years ago. Figures are likely to change marginally when EC updates them on Monday.
